It was established in the year 1950 in the name of “Tollygunge Buddha Samity”. Later on, it was registered in the year 2007 as “Tollygunge Moor Avenue Buddha Samity”. Later on ,it was known as “Tollygunge Buddha Vihar”.
Before 2009 there was no Bhikkhu Biharadhykha at this place. On 8th February 2009 Dr. Arunjyoti Bhikku became the first Adhyaksha. After that it started getting popular on now, known as “Tollygunge Sambodhi Buddhist Monastery”.
Dr. Arunjyoti Bhikku had taken the initiative for the first kathin Civar Dan in the year 2009. Present, under his leadership & guidance, it has transformed into one of the most famous & well known Monastery.
